Vivian C. Meerstein of Plymouth entered eternal life on Monday (March 28, 2022) at Rocky
Knoll Healthcare facility in Plymouth, WI. She had recently celebrated her 100 th birthday with
family.
Vivian was born on November 5, 1921 in Batavia, WI, the daughter of the late Arthur and Clara
(Weingartner) Donath. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Evangelical Church in Batavia.
Vivian attended Batavia grade school as well as Plymouth High School.
On July 27, 1946, she was united in marriage to Victor Meerstein and they resided in Plymouth
most of their married life. Her husband preceded her in death on December 23, 2001. Vivian
was a member of Salem UCC where she participated in the Willing Workers and taught Sunday
and Bible School.
While raising her sons was her main focus, she was employed at Kraft, PIP, Shell Patterns and
Elenco over the years. Vivian had a passion for baking, so spent many an hour in the kitchen
whipping up breads, cookies, cakes and other treats for her family and friends. Vivian’s other
joys in life were playing cards and dominos as well as working on crossword puzzles.
Vivian is survived by two sons, Robert (Marsha) Meerstein, Pittsburgh, PA; John (Judith)
Meerstein, Plymouth. Five grandchildren, Kate (Dan) Powell, Pittsburgh, PA; Ryan (Katie)
Meerstein, Alexandria, VA; Nathan (Kelly) Meerstein, San Francisco, CA; Scott (Heather)
Meerstein, New Berlin, WI; Amy (Matthew) Carey, New Berlin, WI. Ten great grandchildren,
Molly and Riley Powell; Sadie, Willa and Josie Meerstein; Hayes Meerstein; Adalyn and Blake
Meerstein; Seth and Evan Carey. An eleventh great grandchild will be arriving in July. Two
sisters-in-law, Sharon Donath, Slinger, WI; Donna Grey, Arkansas; and many nieces and
nephews.
Vivian was preceded in death by her husband Vic; parents; brother Robert Donath; in-laws
Alfred Sr. and Ella (Abraham) Meerstein; brothers-in-law, Raymond (Leona) Meerstein; Alfred
Jr. (Lorraine) Meerstein and Elmer Meerstein. Sisters-in-law, Luetta (Carlton) Lehman; Beatrice
(Norman) Buelke; Dolores (Melvin) Owens along with Agnes (Meyer) Meerstein and Vivian
(Thackery) Meerstein.
Cremation has taken place and a private family service for Vivian will be held. Rev. James
Hoppert, Pastor of Salem UCC in Plymouth, will officiate. Inurnment will take place in the
Woodlawn Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established in Vivian’s name.
