An early morning crash on Friday has taken the life of a woman in Manitowoc County.
The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office and EMS responders were called at around 4:45 a.m. Friday to the incident on Hillcrest Road, east of Manitowoc County Highway “T” in the Township of Franklin, where they discovered a Chevy Trailblazer had likely lost control on icy roads, entered the south ditch and overturned. The driver, a 70-year-old woman from Whitelaw, was thrown from the vehicle and was pronounced dead after life-saving efforts at the scene could not save her.
Sheriff Dan Hartwig advised motorists to be aware of potentially slippery roads both before and after sunset, and to always wear a seat belt.
