About $35,000 damage was done to a Sheboygan home in an early Monday morning fire, but fortunately, nobody was injured in the incident.
Sheboygan Fire Department crews got the call just before 3 a.m. Monday and responded to the house in the 1800 block of Saemann Avenue where they were met at the front of the building by the lone occupant. Crews found a small haze of smoke on the second floor and in the attic, located the fire in the 2nd floor ceiling and were able to put out the fire with a single hose line.
An electrical failure was blamed for the fire that displaced the person living there. SFD Captain Andrew Quackenboss pointed to the importance of having working smoke detectors that can wake sleeping occupants, saying that “Bedroom smoke detectors truly save lives.”
