Maria K. Mac Tavish, age 107, of Sheboygan, went home to her heavenly Father on Monday, March 14, 2022, at the Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls. She was born in Sheboygan on June 22, 1914, the daughter of the late John and Emilie Reimer Kaiser.
She attended local schools and graduated from Kohler High School. Maria then moved to New York and traveled most of her life and went to almost everywhere except for the African Continent. She was united in marriage to Dr. Royal D. Mac Tavish in Englishtown, New Jersey. He preceded her in death in 1983.
Maria was secretary for various companies, and for General Dwight Eisenhower in Berlin, Germany at the end of World War II. She was also a very accomplished pianist and a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler.
Survivors include her two nieces, Paulette (Daniel) Klotz, of Plymouth and Pamela (Dennis) Smith, of Sheboygan Falls; a nephew, Dave (Marie) Prepster, of Huntingburg, Indiana; and a niece-in-law, Debbie Kaiser, of Sheboygan Falls. Maria is also survived by twelve great nieces and nephews, twenty-two great great-nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Edward Kaiser, and John Kaiser Jr., two nephews, Herbert J. Kaiser, and Gary S. Kaiser, and two stepsisters, Regina LaBudde, and Katherine Holschuh.
A graveside service will take place on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. in the Kohler Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Maria’s name.
A heart felt thank you is extended to staff at Pine Haven Christian Home and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for the compassion and care that was given to Maria.
