The pace of decline of COVID-19 activity in Sheboygan County may seem to be slowing by the simple numbers, but the rate of change tells another story. It may be happening faster than it seems.
Consider that from February 2nd to the 3rd a single-day drop in active cases of 295 was recorded. Fast forward to today, and the decline from March 16-17 was only 16. In February, that decline was 6.27% of the first day case count. Today, the decline represents a 10.6% drop, a faster rate of decline all things considered.
The active case count is now the lowest since 117 was reported on August 2, 2021. Current hospitalizations now number three, a low point last recorded on…August 2, 2021.
The number of confirmed cases reported on Thursday by the County Division of Public Health increased by one, to 29,302 total. 135 of those cases are now active, 16 fewer than on Wednesday, the result of another 17 recoveries during the same time. The 7-day average of new daily confirmed cases remains at 3.
Three new hospitalizations occurred in the last day, raising the total hospitalized at least once for COVID over 1200, to 1,202. The current patient count was reduced by one, to only 3.
62.8% of the county population has received at least one dose of vaccine, increasing by 21 since Wednesday to 72,368. 69,267, or 60.1%, have received two doses, an increase of 38 in the last day, while boosters were administered to another 49, raising that total to 37,430, or 32.5%.
