Lorraine R. (Degnitz) Hammes, age 94, of Sheboygan passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022.
She was born on March 31, 1927, in Adell, to the late August and Rosalie Degnitz and graduated from
Plymouth High School in 1944.
On February 10, 1950, she married Roman Hammes in Sheboygan. The couple resided in Sheboygan
since their marriage. Her husband preceded her in death on February 9, 1985. Lorraine worked at
Memorial Hospital in Sheboygan and at Luedtke’s Butcher Shop for 15 years. Lorraine was a member of
St. Paul Lutheran Church.
She enjoyed vacationing in Northern Wisconsin and spending time with her family. Lorraine was a very
giving person and will be remembered as a caregiver by the numerous family members when they
needed assistance.
Survivors include her son, Eugene (Rosalyn) Hammes of Georgetown, TX; a grandchild Brian Hammes of
Driftwood, TX; along with a niece and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband,
and two brothers.
A Memorial Service for Lorraine will be held at NOON on Friday, March 25, 2022, at St. Paul Lutheran
Church, 1810 N 13 th St. in Sheboygan, with Pastor Matt Shive officiating. The family will greet visitors on
Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Lorraine will be laid to rest at Gardens of Peace
Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Lorraine’s name to St. Paul Lutheran Church
in Sheboygan.
