New metrics released from the Centers for Disease Control has prompted adjustments to be made in the daily reporting of pandemic indicators at the county level. The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health says that in alignment with those new CDC metrics, the “level of community transmission” will no longer be reported. The CDC will now be issuing “Community Levels” as a measurement of activity.
The new metrics acknowledge that more tools than ever before are available to prevent OVID-19 from placing strain on communities and health care system. At the same time, some people and communities, such as elderly, the immunocompromised and people with disabilities, are at higher risk for serious COVID-19 illness, and guidelines must take those into account.
Currently, Sheboygan County is at “Low” Community Level. Recommendations are to stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations, and get tested if you have symptoms. Masks may be chosen at any time, but those with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask.
