Sheboygan County can consider itself free of masks for the most part under the Centers for Disease Control’s revised guidance on masking against COVID-19 released on Friday. At the same time the agency initiated a “Covid-19 community level” metric based upon three data sets: new COVID-19 hospitalizations, hospital capacity, and new COVID-19 cases, which determines masking guidance.
Under the updated guidance, more than 70% of the US population is in a location with low or medium COVID-19 community levels. For those areas, there is no recommendation for indoor masking unless you are at potential “increased risk” for COVID-19 and if so, the CDC recommends to talk to your health care provider about wearing a mask.
Based upon the online tool offered by the CDC to determine your community level, Sheboygan County is at a “Low” level, meaning that people may choose to mask at any time. People with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask.
You can check guidance for any location by using this tool provided by the CDC.
