Richard Charles Jarvis, 56, of Oostburg, passed away unexpectedly Friday afternoon, February
18, 2022 surrounded by family.
Born on Flag Day, June 14, 1965, in Sheboygan. Rich was the son of Susan Pankratz Jarvis
and the late Jerry Jarvis. He graduated from Kohler High School in 1983 where he played his
favorite sports of basketball and football, where he helped the Blue Bombers to 2nd place at
State, and set a record for long distance running in track. At the age of 21, Rich was diagnosed
with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma which subsequently led to numerous medical complications.
On June 6, 1998, he was united in marriage to Jill E. Zarnoth at Community United Church of
Christ in beautiful Elkhart Lake. It was one of his favorite places where he competed in the
Sunday sailboat races with a Sunfish. In 2003, on Friday the 13th of June, he received a heart
transplant. Everyone is thankful for each day of these additional 19 years he was so generously
granted. He was a fighter and cared for nothing more than his family.
Rich enjoyed doing sudoku and crossword puzzles with his coffee every morning. He loved
playing Mastermind with his wife, reading, and listening to audiobooks, which made for some
great discussions.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jill Jarvis; two sons, Bryan Jarvis of Morrison, CO, and Jared
Jarvis of Houghton, MI; his brother, Randall Jarvis of Sheboygan; Mother-in-law, Dorothy
Zarnoth, brothers-in-law; Dean (Goldie) Zarnoth and Scot (Andriea) Zarnoth and sisters-in-law;
Dawn (John) Bina and Jodi (Jeff) Hirsch. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel, who died shortly after birth, his father, Richard
“Jerry” Jarvis Jr., and beloved grandma, Alice Pankratz.
A Special thanks to Oostburg Area First Responders, Aurora Medical Center ICU Grafton, the
knowledgeable staff at Sheboygan Southside Walmart Pharmacy and neighbors Jim and Kim
Block.
