Wisconsin is in good shape…or is it? That depends upon who you listen to after Governor Tony Evers delivered his 2022 State of the State Address in Madison on Tuesday.
The Governor said in his address that he was “proud to be able to report that the state of our state is stronger and better than it was a year ago, or two years ago, or even three years ago.”
The Governor pointed to the billions of federal relief dollars he directed to support farmers, transportation projects and businesses, schools, and into the pockets of citizens through tax relief.
Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu of Oostburg disagreed with the Governor’s assessment. He said “every one of those giant checks….represent the outrageous over-spending of the federal government…”, and adding that “The unfortunate reality is, our nation, our state, and our people have been in the midst of crisis – facing historic challenges – and the executive branch at every level of government has failed to effectively lead us through it. As a result, the state of our state is not as strong as it should be.”
The one place both agreed was asking for God’s blessing going forward.
