The growth of new COVID-19 cases in Sheboygan County has diminished to the extent that active cases have now declined for the first time since December 29th. On Wednesday’s Coronavirus Case Dashboard update from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health, 171 new confirmed positives were received in the same time that there were 217 recoveries and one additional death. The net result is a total of 27,507 cases during the pandemic, 5,155 of which are active.
The latest casualty in Sheboygan County was an individual in their 60s, and becomes the 198th death attributed to the SARS-Cov-2 Virus in Sheboygan County. 1 of the casualties so far was a person between 10 and 19 years old, five were in their 30s, eight were in their 40s, nine were in their 50s, thirty were in their 60s, forty-seven were in their 70s, and ninety-eight were at least 80 years old.
A total of 1,117 persons have required hospitalization in Sheboygan County during the pandemic that arrived here in March of 2020. As one more was admitted, six were discharged. Along with the casualty, the county patient total dropped by 6 to 32.
The level of community transmission in Sheboygan County is considered “High”, however the 7-day total of new cases adjusted as a portion of a 100,000 person sample was down by over 671 points in the last day to 1,407.14. The percent of tests returning positive during the same period also dropped, by over 1-1/4 percent to 33.28%.
Concerning the COVID-19 Disease Activity level, Sheboygan County and all other counties in Wisconsin are experiencing a “Critically High” case activity level. In the last two weeks, the “Burden”, or total number of cases per 100,000 county residents in the last two weeks, was 3,595.1, down 51% from the previous reading.
66 more persons received their first dose of vaccine in the last day, bringing the total number of county residents receiving an initial dose to 71,337, or 61.9% of the county. 78 more became fully vaccinated, bringing that total to 67,352 persons, or 58.4% of the county.
Nine nursing homes and 44 educational facilities are among the establishments now under facility-wide investigations by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health.
