Mathew Stark, 90, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully in his sleep early Friday morning, January 21, 2022 at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
Born August 1, 1931 in Poland, Mathew was a son of the late Wladzimierz and Albina Maksvytyte Szczuczko. He graduated from schooling in Poland and went on to serve his country in the military. On October 13, 1957, he was united in marriage to Antonia Tarasewicz in Vilnius, Lithuania. The family immigrated to the United States in 1972. They were married for 64 years before Antonia preceded him in death on December 14, 2021.
Mathew was a machine operator for the Borg Warner Co. in Rockford, IL until his retirement in 1993. In Poland, Mathew was a carpenter and furniture maker. He and Antonia moved to Sheboygan to be closer to their family. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Kohler. Mathew enjoyed working around the house on home projects and spending time with friends and family. He loved going on adventures with his grandchildren, going for walks and picking berries.
He is survived by his daughter, Becky (Andrew) Krueger, Sheboygan; his two granddaughters, Allison Krueger, Sheboygan, and Cassandra Krueger, Milwaukee; his sister, Vanda Ivanauskiene, Lithuania; his brother-in-law, Scholek (Gienia) Tarasewicz, Honolulu, Hawaii; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents and wife, Antonia, he was preceded in death by two sisters.
Private family services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Mathew’s arrangements.
