After being housed for decades at the old Central High School building, the Sheboygan Area School District is ready to show off its new facility.
An open house is scheduled at the new building at Stahl Road and Highway “OK” on Tuesday, January 25th from 5 until 6 p.m. The former home of the Wilson Mutual Insurance Company was acquired in August, and will now house the Superintendent’s Office, Business Services, Human Resources, and Student & Instructional Services. A separate entrance is provided for the Community Recreation Department in the same building.
The move was made after a long range planning committee determined that the old site wasn’t adequate to house all the needs of the current operations. And now that the old space at 830 Virginia Avenue will no longer be the headquarters, much of it will go back to serve as school space, accommodating the Warriner Middle and High Schools, and the ASPIRE special education independent living life-skills program. The District’s Facility Services and Maintenance, Printing Services and the School Nutrition kitchens will remain there as well.
Those who attend Tuesday’s open house can stay to attend the regular Board of Education Meeting that starts at 6 p.m.
