Since last week Thursday, Sheboygan County has seen the coronavirus pandemic mount up some substantial numbers. From January 13-20, 2,255 more cases have been confirmed, equalling 8-1/2% of the confirmed total so far of 26,520 cases…301 of them added in the last day. There are 1,573 more active cases, now numbering 4,799, a gain of 161 since Wednesday. Based upon the sum of confirmed and probable cases, about 4.62% of the county population is now likely dealing with an active case of COVID-19.
Although two more persons were hospitalized, raising that total to 1,109, five were discharged, leading to a decline of 3 patients to leave 42 currently hospitalized.
Despite mostly rising figures, a few datasets declined in the last day. While the level of community transmission in the county is “high”, the case rate, or total new cases per 100,000 persons in the last 7 days, declined 104.8 points to 2,325.41, and the percent of tests returning positive in the same period declined 0.21%, to 34.01%.
61.7% of county residents, amounting to 71,125 persons, have received at least one dose of vaccine, an increase of 58 in the last day. Another 85 persons achieved fully-vaccinated status, raising that total to 67,105, or 58.2% of the county.
A technical glitch didn’t allow the full weekly update for Thursday to be accessed through the County DPH website, but the email announcing its issue highlighted a set of graphics that should help parents of students, and adults, to determine quarantine, isolation and masking times based upon test results, exposure, and vaccination status. We’ve included links to those and the message here:
