Steven G. Tauschek, 57, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 15,
2022, surrounded by his family at his home following a long battle with PSP. Steven was born
February 4, 1964, in Sheboygan Falls to the late Roland and Edith (Roepke) Tauschek. He
graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School with the Class of 1983. He then went on to
receive his degree in Small Engine Repair from LTC and graduated from Fire School. On August
9, 1997, he was united in marriage to the love of his life Mary Jane Wettstein.
When Steven was younger, he started working as a stable boy for Mr. Kohler. He then went to
school and worked himself up to the HVAC heating & cooling in the Powerhouse at Kohler and
worked there for 31 years until he had to retire due to health issues. Steven was also a proud
member of the Elkhart Lake Volunteer Fire Department for 14 years.
Steven and Mary Jane ran Tauschek’s B&B for 14 years. Steven was extremely talented and
built that log home log by log until it was finished. He had a passion for motorcycling and
would ride his from May until November. Steven loved to travel and go to the races. Family
and friends were most important to him, he looked forward to their yearly New Year’s Eve
tradition of rotating from house to house getting together to ring the New Year. He had so
many great friends and cherished all the lasting memories he created with them. Steven will be
missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife Mary Jane, son Michael (Aurora) Thomas, three grandchildren,
Elizabeth, Augusta, and Bessie, siblings, David (Kathy) Tauschek, Laurie Kleine, Bruce (Diane)
Tauschek, and Julie (Jeff) Bayer and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and great friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Dick Kleine.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at 1:00 PM at St. John Lutheran
Church, 222 Stafford St. Plymouth, with Rev. John Schultz officiating. Burial will follow at
Woodlawn Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Thursday, January 20,
2022, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the CHURCH. If you are unable to join us for
the service, it will be livestreamed on Steven’s obituary page on the funeral home website.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Steven’s name.
