HOWARDS GROVE, Wis. (WHBL) – 5 vehicles were involved in a fiery crash on I-43 north of Highway 42 Thursday morning. The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department says it all began when a car heading south lost control, crossed over into northbound traffic, striking another car head on. The southbound vehicle rolled, throwing the driver from the vehicle. He’s got life-threatening injuries . Deputies say the northbound car that he hit burst into flames, the driver of that car got out safely.
While that was happening, another crash in the southbound lanes where an inattentive vehicle hit a pickup truck from behind – the pickup truck was rolled over and another vehicle was unable to avoid that crash…. It’s possible icy spots on the roads were a factor in the crash – the highway will be shut down for a while as there are a total of 5 cars that need to be removed from the scene. Flight For Life was called to transport the patient with the most serious injuries, but that was cancelled because of icy conditions.
