No people were injured, but a dog needed to be revived in a fire over the weekend in Valders in Manitowoc County.
The Valders Fire Department responded to a mobile home fire on North Jackson Street in that village on Saturday afternoon and were told that a dog was in a back bedroom of the smoke-filled trailer.
While one crew extinguished the blaze, another located the dog, which wasn’t breathing. EMS crews performed CPR, administered oxygen and were able to restore a pulse. Emergency crews continued breathing for the dog until he could be transported to a Reedsville veterinarian where the dog was reported to be alert and doing well.
The fire, which started in the kitchen, was accidental, and while the dog is doing fine, damage to the home was substantial and the owners will be displaced as a result.
