Eileen R. Metze, 84, of Plymouth, WI, peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by her
loving family on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice
Center in Sheboygan Falls.
Eileen was born on January 27, 1937, in Plymouth, and was the adopted daughter of the late
Arno and Ruby (Abers) Schellenberg. She attended schools in Plymouth and graduated from
Plymouth High School in 1955. On August 31, 1957, she married her high school sweetheart,
Robert (Bob) Metze. Their love and devotion to each other ran deep. Eileen worked as a
secretary at Borden Foods Company and Sargento Foods. In retirement she enjoyed working
part-time for Comerford Realty. She had been a member of Salem United Church of Christ.
Over the course of her life, Eileen enjoyed her bowling league at Casey Jones Lanes, dance club,
snowmobiling, playing Bridge with the ladies and card games with Bob and their friends,
crocheting, tatting, knitting, and doing jigsaw puzzles. She was an avid reader her entire life and
could complete The New York Times Sunday Crosswords within an hour. Her wit and sense of
humor will be greatly missed .
Eileen is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Bob; her three children: Lisa (Scott)
Koehler of Waukesha, Connie (Patrick) Mertens of Elkhart Lake, and Jim Metze (special friend,
Robin Scheuer) of Plymouth; eight grandchildren: Sarah Koehler, Beth Bruce, Tim Koehler,
Jonathan Koehler, Ryan (Anne) Theel, Tyler Platz, Robert Pierce Metze and Lauren Metze; two
step-grandchildren: Melissa (Nate) Julich and Joe Mertens; five great-grandchildren; three step-
great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Shirley and Merlin Schmidt of
Sheboygan Falls; and her dear friend, Collette Flood. She is further survived by many other
relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary
and Ken Kallenberg.
A private family service for Eileen will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, January 10, 2022, at
Wittkopp Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. James Hoppert, pastor of Salem U.C.C.
officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Bob and family would like to express their deepest gratitude and appreciation to the Sharon S.
Richardson Hospice staff for their loving care and compassion.
