MADISON, WI (WHBL) – The top Republican in the Wisconsin Senate says Governor Tony Evers needs to do more for hospitals and nursing homes around the state during this spike in coronavirus cases.
Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu, of Oostburg, said Governor Evers has almost total control over five-billion-dollars in federal coronavirus relief money, and could send that money to overwhelmed hospitals anytime he wants. LeMahieu says the governor could use some of that federal money to pay workers at hospitals and nursing homes more, and that could help solve some of the staffing issues at both.
The governor has announced all sorts of projects paid for with that federal money, but nothing yet to boost frontline worker pay.
