When it’s time to say “goodbye” to the Christmas tree, City of Sheboygan Residents can have it picked up with the trash.
The City of Sheboygan announced that its annual Christmas tree recycling pickup began on Tuesday and will continue through the end of the month. Trees, and also wreaths, will be collected on the same day as your garbage pickup at the curbside. Residents are reminded that there’s no alley pickup of trees, and you should remove all ornaments, lights, and any tree bag before setting it out. The City will also accept your tree at the New Jersey Avenue recycling center in the area normally used for branches. All trees will be chipped and made available to the public for mulch free of charge.
Many other municipalities outside the City of Sheboygan also offer free pickup of trees and you’ll want to check your local government’s website for details.
The National Christmas Tree Association’s website also suggests putting the tree in your back yard or garden and adding bird food, fruit and strings of popcorn where birds can perch and use it as a feeder.
