Mixed figures were seen in Wednesday’s data posted by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health on its Coronavirus Case Dashboard.
Active cases fell 85 to 966 current cases, as 33 new positive tests were received amid 118 recoveries since Tuesday. Test rates have fallen with the holidays; a total of 155 tests were logged in the last day, compared to over 200 per day two weeks ago. 20,967 cases in all have been seen during the pandemic in Sheboygan County.
The average number of active cases per day has been trending down the last three weeks. After a data gap following Thanksgiving, active cases averaged 1,137.2 per day during the week of December 13; 1,008 per day during the week of December 20, and 1,008.5 per day so far this week. The County will finish reporting for the year on Thursday, with data to resume on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.
Hospitals in the county are now treating 38 patients, 6 more than Tuesday, and 1,039 persons have needed such treatment so far.
The level of community transmission in Sheboygan County is considered “High” with a case rate of 368.48 per 100,000 persons, down 81.5 in the last day, while the percent of tests returning positive was up a quarter of a percent to 15.02%.
106 persons received their first dose of vaccine, among the now 69,741 county residents that have received their first shot. That’s 60.5% of the population. 57.2%, or 65,963, are fully vaccinated as 58 more persons completed their series.
While the County DPH did not release a detailed report on Facility-Wide Investigations this week, the State Department of Health Services reports that 8 long-term care facilities in Sheboygan County now have active investigations, two more than last week. 50 educational facilities are also hosting investigations, and that’s up four in the last week. There are also 12 workplaces being investigated as well as 1 “other” setting.
