Charles W. Hollenberger, a kind and gentle family man residing in Plymouth passed away unexpectedly
on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center at the age of 84.
Charlie was born on September 10, 1937 in Sheboygan County a son to Franklin and Ruth (Wittkopp)
Hollenberger. He graduated from Plymouth High School and went on to attain a Bachelor’s Degree from
the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He was married to Nancy Miller on August 10, 1960 and they
resided on their hobby farm in Greenbush until moving to Plymouth. Charlie worked for various
companies in the area including Borden and retired from Sargento Foods on October 3, 1998 as a
Procurement Manager. Those who knew Charlie easily liked him. He became knowledgeable in various
areas due to his love to read. His love for nature and wildlife was shown in the various trees he planted
on his farm. He was an avid Packer fan.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy; two daughters, Susan (David) Roettger of Greenbush
and Mary Homiston of Manitowoc; three granddaughters, Elizabeth Roettger of Madison, Rachel
Roettger of Champaign, IL and Shelby Homiston of St. Louis, MO; a brother, Frank (Janice) Hollenberger
of Plymouth and two sisters-in-law, Sharon Hollenberger of Mequon and Marge Hollenberger of
Edgerton. Nieces, nephews and other family members further survive. He was preceded in death by his
parents, a sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Bruce Burghardt; a sister, Kay Hollenberger and two
brothers, Gene Hollenberger and Roy Hollenberger.
Due to COVID concerns a private family service will be held at Wittkopp Funeral and Cremation Service
in Plymouth with Rev. Rae Ann Beebe of Saron United Church of Christ officiating. Inurnment will take
place in the Greenbush Cemetery.
