While the Badger Football team strives for ratings and championships on the field, fans watching those efforts are earning their own sort of recognition.
The online sports gaming website VegasInsider said that fans of the Wisconsin Badgers rank as the third “booziest” in the nation within the NCAA. That’s based upon the number of drinks that fans 21 and older purchased for consumption before and during football games.
There’s a bit of a caveat here: most college stadiums don’t sell alcohol, so tailgating plays a role. Nonetheless, the average Badger fan spent $23 and consumed 3.9 drinks per game, placing them behind 2nd ranked Minnesota, who’s fans spent $27 on 4 drinks, and the top-ranked Nebraska Cornhusker fans, who spent just over $26 on 4.5 drinks each per game.
And yes, Big-10 teams take the top three spots on the list, but the next ranking member, Illinois, placed a much lower 10th place.
