LAS VEGAS, NV (WHBL) – For the second time in school history, the Wisconsin Badgers will play for the Maui Invitational championship following a 65-63 win over the University of Houston on Tuesday.
Johnny Davis provided nearly 50% of the Badgers offense on the afternoon with 30 points, four rebounds, and one assist. From there the scoring dropped off to nine points from Brad Davison and Tyler Wahl. Steven Crowl added eight points.
The starting five accounted for 59 of the 65 points in the win.
Kyler Edwards led the Cougars in the loss with 18 points.
Houston fought back from a 40-20 halftime deficit to pull to within four points with about four minutes to play in the game, but Wisconsin was able to hold on.
Wednesday’s finale will match the Badgers against St. Mary’s. The title game is set to tip at 4 PM with pregame coverage on WHBL beginning at 3 o’clock.
