By measure of the active case count, the progression of the SARS-CoV-2 Virus within the population of Sheboygan County has virtually erased any gains made against the the pandemic this year.
102 new positive tests for COVID-19 were received since Thursday, and along with 62 recoveries, the active case count rose by 40 to 995 cases, now nearing the 999 reported at the close of 2020 (12/30/20). 18,340 cases in all have been logged in Sheboygan County.
Hospitalizations rose by three to a total of 35 patients currently being treated in Sheboygan County, matching that mark last set on November 12 of 2020. 925 persons in all have needed hospital treatment during the pandemic.
Sheboygan County is experiencing a “High” level of community transmission, with a case rate of 495.06 per 100,000 persons, down just slightly from Thursday’s 497.66. The positive percent of tests over the last 7 days rose 0.4% since Thursday to 13.44%.
At least one shot of vaccine has now been administered to 66,131 county residents, amounting to 57.3% of the population, and a gain of 168 since Thursday. Those fully vaccinated comprise 54.5% of the county population. That’s a total of 62,865, 155 of those in the last day.
