Two new high marks for 2021 were contained in Thursday’s COVID-19 update from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health: Active Cases and Current Hospitalizations.
106 new positive tests for COVID-19 were received since Wednesday, while 70 persons recovered, resulting in a gain of 36 active cases. That now totals 955 persons being monitored in Sheboygan County, a new high for the year. 18,238 cases in all have been recorded here during the pandemic.
4 persons were hospitalized for the first time, raising the total number of patients treated so far to 923. Data would suggest that 3 persons re-entered hospitals for treatment as well, and the 32 patients now hospitalized in Sheboygan County is the highest since 33 were being treated just over a year ago, November 17, 2020.
The level of community transmission in Sheboygan County is considered “High”, with a case rate of 497.66 per 100,000 population, up from 466.45 on Wednesday. The percent of tests returning positive over the last 7 days was 13.04%, essentially the same as Wednesday.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services has resumed reporting vaccination numbers, the first time since November 5th. 57.2% of the county, or 65,963, have received at least one dose of vaccine, while 54.4%, or 62,710 persons, are fully vaccinated. 631 doses were administered the week of November 7th in Sheboygan County. The DHS has not yet integrated the numbers of those ages 5-11 who have been vaccinated, but hopes to do so in the very near future.
