Five deaths attributed to COVID-19 were added Wednesday to the county toll by the Division of Public Health, raising the number of casualties due to the disease in Sheboygan County to 176. Of the latest victims, two were in their 40s, one was in their 60s, one was in their 70s and one was 80 or older. Of the 176 deaths in all, one was between 10 and 19 years old, three were in their 30s, seven in their 40s, eight in their 50s, twenty-seven in their 60s, forty-three were in their 70s and eighty-seven were 80 or older.
65 new positive tests for COVID-19 were received since Tuesday, and countered by the 55 recoveries – and the 5 deaths – the active case count rose by 5 to 919, a new high for 2021. 18,132 cases in all have been recorded in Sheboygan County during the pandemic.
Vaccine data has not been updated since Friday, November 5th as revisions are still being made to the count, made necessary by errors related to reporting by Walgreens among several states including Wisconsin. Updates will resume once accurate counts are again available.
The Level of Community Transmission in Sheboygan County was rated “High” with a Case Rate of 466.45 per 100,000 persons. That represents the total number of new cases per 100,000 population within the last 7 days, and was unchanged from Tuesday. Accompanying that data on the County Coronavirus Case Dashboard was the percent positivity rate of tests over the past 7 days…also unchanged at 13.05%.
Another metric, the Case Activity in Sheboygan County, reported by the State Department of Health Services, was rated “Very High” with a burden of 927.4 – representing the total number of COVID-19 cases per 100,000 Sheboygan County residents in the last two weeks. The trajectory, or percent case change from the previous to the current week, was up 19%.
