(WHBL) – A new report says Madison Police were unprepared for the violence of the summer of 2020 protests. The Quattrone Report says Madison’s usual strategy of allowing protesters room to protest failed because the groups involved in those protests were far more violent than in years past.
The report says protesters didn’t communicate with Madison Police, and responded to police action with even more violence.
Those protests saw State Street vandalized, saw fires started, and saw a large crowd tear down statues at the Wisconsin Capitol. The Quattrone Report suggests Madison Police ‘refocus’ future protest strategies on de-escalation.
