Daniel A. Meyer, 78, passed away Sunday morning, November 14, 2021 of congestive heart failure at Sharon Richardson Community Hospice.
Daniel was born January 3, 1943 in Sheboygan, the son of George and Flora (nee Roehrborn) Meyer. He graduated from Elkhart-Glenbeulah High School, and went on to study at Lakeshore Technical College. On January 28, 1961, Dan was united in marriage with Adrienne Bergen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Howards Grove. For many years, they both taught Sunday school.
He was a natural born salesman. “Dan the Paint Man” sold paint on the road and over-the-counter all of his working days. Most recently, he was employed at Home Depot, retiring in 2017. Prior to that, he sold paint for Falls Dealer Supply, Fasse Paint, Bruning Paint Company and Hallman/Lindsay in Sun Prairie.
Dan was a long time president of the Falls Duffers Golf League. He enjoyed sports, reading and spending time with his dog, Buddy. An eager, but not fanatical, sports fan, he enjoyed both watching and participating in various sports. Over the course of his life, Dan coached YMCA basketball and football, first for his son’s teams and then for other youth teams.
Dan was a people person; he loved people and people loved him. He was present in the moment for anyone, and always wore a memorable smile. It was common for his wife to lose him in the grocery store and find him engaged in an elated conversation with someone from his past. Dan and Adrienne loved spending time with their exercise family at Essential Senior Fitness Class located at Vitale Wellness Center.
Dan is survived by his wife of 60 years, Adrienne, their children; Mark (Robin) Meyer of Sheboygan Falls and Marcia (Pete) Bauer of Sheboygan and was “Boppa” to Emily Austreng (Josh Lewis) and Megan Austreng. He is further survived by his sister Joyce Scheibl of Elkhart Lake; sister-in-law Jean (Everett) Nylund of Shaumburg, IL; his beloved dog Buddy; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, and brother-in-law Fritz Scheibl.
