While the number of active cases of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County has its ups and downs, only a slight downward trend has been seen in the averages lately, and this week ended with more active cases than on last week Friday.
Last week saw an average of 701.6 cases per day, while this week saw an average of 665 cases per day. Last Friday there were 678 active cases – this week Friday saw 709 cases being monitored in Sheboygan County. 62 more positive tests were received since Thursday, while there were 51 recoveries for a net gain of 11, and 17,257 cases in all have now been recorded here.
19 persons are now hospitalized in Sheboygan County. That’s 4 less than on Thursday, the result of one new admission and five recoveries.
The level of community transmission has risen since Thursday, when there were 383.21 total cases recorded over the last 7 days per 100,000 population. Today that figure was 383.21. The percent positive test rate averaged over the last 7 days also rose, but only slightly, from 11.65% to 11.72%.
The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health is in the process of training their staff in pediatric COVID vaccine administration in advance of vaccinations for those ages 5-11, and it is also waiting on shipment of the Pfizer vaccine that has been approved for that use. Pediatric vaccinations will be offered along with first, second, and booster doses at the free Walk-In Wednesday COVID-19 vaccine clinics held each Wednesday between 9 AM and 4 PM at the Health and Human Services building at 1011 North 8th Street in Sheboygan.
The Wisconsin DPH reports that 65,298 county residents have now received at least one shot of vaccine. That’s 57 more than on Thursday, and amounts to 56.6% of the population. 62,414, or 54.1%, have completed their vaccination series.
