Two more Sheboygan County deaths have been added to the pandemic toll as of Thursday’s update from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health, putting the total at 169. The two casualties were the first added since October 13th. One victim was in their 70s, the 42nd in that age group, and the other was 80 or older, the 84th in that demographic. Also included among the 169 casualties, one was between 10 and 19 years old, three were in their 30s, five were in their 40s, eight were in their 50s, and twenty-six were in their 60s.
The count of active COVID-19 cases in Sheboygan County advanced again on Thursday, as 94 new confirmed positive tests were received since Wednesday, balanced against 60 recoveries and the two deceased, adding 32 actives to a total that is now 698 cases. 17,295 cases have been recorded here during the pandemic.
Two more persons were admitted to hospitals for treatment, and along with discharges and casualties, the patient count fell by 3 to 23 now in Sheboygan County hospitals for COVID-19 treatment.
The level of community transmission in Sheboygan County remains “High”, with a case rate over the last 7 days of 323.39 per 100,000 population, and an 11.65% rate of positive tests over that same period. Both figures represent a decline from the previous day.
65,241 county residents have received at least one dose of vaccine as of Thursday. That represents 56.6% of the county population, and an increase of 83 since Wednesday. Another 48 persons have now been fully vaccinated since Wednesday, amounting to 62,453 persons, or 54.1% of the county.
The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health on Thursday said that it is waiting for vaccine shipments and working on training its staff before starting the rollout of the Pfizer vaccine for children 5 through 11 years of age. Those interested in having their children receive their vaccination through Sheboygan County DPH should monitor the COVID-19 page on the sheboygancounty.com website for the most current information regarding childhood vaccinations. Prevea Health has already announced that it will be offering the vaccinations beginning on Monday, November 8, which can be arranged through a MyPrevea.com account.
