Sandra Rose (nee Sommer) Collins, age 60, of rural Plymouth, went to be with her Lord and
Savior, Jesus Christ, early Monday morning at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice
in Sheboygan Falls.
Sandy was born on March 31, 1961, to Calvin and Phyllis (Tulach) Sommer. Sandy grew up
in Sheboygan and attended North High School, graduating with the Class of 1979.
Sandy earned her associate’s degree, and then did an additional year of education at LTC
to become a Certified Medical Assistant.
In the early 80’s, Sandy met the love of her life, Jeff Collins, at a backyard cookout. They
had their first date over a game of racquetball and were later married on August 31, 1985,
at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Sheboygan.
Sandy was a very religious woman. She found comfort and strength in scripture and
through the regular masses she attended.
Sandy will be missed by her close friends, Tammy Harris, Cate Pearce, and Lori Gregoire;
her brother, Mark (Sherry) Sommer and their daughter, Tammy ‘Sommer’ Darling and her
children, Amanda and Cheyenne; mother-in-law and stepfather, Helen and Sam Warner;
sister-in-law, Robin (Jerry) Hahn; brother-in-law, Mark Collins; stepsister-in-law, Susann
(David) McKinley; niece, Brianne (Phil) Slater, nephews, Chase, Owen Hahn, and Markus
Collins; aunt-in-law, Martha (Spaulding) Mann; as well as many other aunts, uncles,
relatives, and friends.
On April 1, 2021, Sandy was preceded in death by the love of her life, Jeff Collins. Sandy
and Jeff spent nearly all their time together, and losing him was like losing a part of herself.
Sandy is now at home with Jeff and her Lord. She is also preceded in death by her parents,
Calvin and Phyllis; and father-in-law, Elton Collins.
A Funeral Mass will be held for Sandy on Friday, November 5, 2021, at Holy Name of Jesus
Catholic Church in Sheboygan, WI, at 2:00 PM with Father Mark Brandl officiating. The
service will be livestreamed from her obituary page on www.zimmerfuneralhome.com.
Please follow all COVID-19 guidelines.
A public visitation will be held from 12:00 PM-2:00 PM at the church on Friday, November 5,
2021, prior to the service.
Sandy will be interred next to her husband, Jeff, at the Sheboygan Falls Cemetery.
