Hospitalizations for treatment of COVID-19 symptoms have reached a high for 2021 in Sheboygan County at 26 patients, and the highest since 30 were logged on December 4, 2020. That’s three more than on Tuesday, while the total number of patients so far treated during the pandemic increased by two to 881, indicating at least one re-admission of a previously hospitalized person.
42 confirmed positive tests for COVID-19 were logged since Tuesday, raising the running total of cases here to 17,201, while 39 persons recovered.
51 more persons received their first dose of vaccine in the last 24 hours, raising the total so treated to 65,178, or 56.5% of the county population. 54.1% have now been fully vaccinated, a total of 62,405 persons.
Prevea Health announced on Wednesday that, following the recommendation of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, FDA and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, it would offer Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines for children ages 5-11 beginning Monday, November 8th. Scheduling will begin that same day, and in order to prevent call centers from becoming overwhelmed and to keep lines open for patient care, Prevea is asking that community members do not call Prevea or use MyPrevea to try and schedule a child’s vaccination appointment prior to Monday.
In order to schedule, it is strongly encouraged that parents or legal guardians have a MyPrevea account set up. One does not need to be a Prevea patient, and can set up a no cost account at www.myprevea.com, or set it up as an app on any smartphone or device. An account for each child will then be needed by requesting “proxy access” in that MyPrevea account.
