Romelda N. Wunsch, age 96, of Sheboygan, died at Sheboygan Senior Community on Sunday, October
24, 2021.
Romelda was born on April 27, 1925, in Sheboygan, to Rymond and Elsie (Kuhn) Zimmermann. Romelda
attended school in Johnsonville and the Mission House. She was united in marriage to Leslie Wunsch on
November 27, 1943, at Saron United Church of Christ in Sheboygan Falls. They operated a dairy farm
with Harvey and Doris Wunsch on County Trunk Highway LS in the Town of Mosel for 42 years. The
homestead is now known as Lake Orchard Farm Retreat.
Romelda enjoyed playing cards, taking bus trips with Leslie and friends, and working in her gardens. She
loved to cook and bake and won many blue ribbons at the Sheboygan County Fair for her baked goods.
She truly loved her family, and holidays were the best times.
Romelda loved her Lord and was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church in Haven, where she
taught Vacation Bible School for 25 years and Sunday school classes for 20 years, sang in the choir, and
was a member of the Ladies Aid and the Service Guild.
Romelda is survived by her daughter, Jeannine (Richard) Halverson of Howards Grove; son, Duane (Ann)
Wunsch of Brookfield; five grandchildren, Joshua Steinhardt (Shawna Terry) of Oshkosh, Jennifer (Tim)
Bartz of Howards Grove, Aaron (Julie Bruskin) Wunsch of New York, Rachel (Joel) Kouba of La Crosse,
and Jacob (Haeshin Shin) Wunsch of Little Rock, AR; five great-grandchildren, Jackson Bartz, Emerson
Bartz, Gabriel Wunsch, Clara Wunsch, and Sydney Kouba; sister, Georgine (Gene) Littlefield; many
beloved nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Romelda is preceded in death by her husband, Leslie, who passed away on January 30, 1985; her
parents, Rymond and Elsie (Kuhn) Zimmermann; sister, Lorretta (Milton) Gumm; father-in-law and
other-in-law, Hugo and Ella (Vogel) Wunsch; brother-in-law, Harvey and Doris (Reische) Wunsch;
nephew, Greg Littlefield; and other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021, at 1:30 PM at Zimmer-Westview Funeral
Home with Pastor Adam Barkley officiating. A visitation will be held from 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM at the
funeral home. Interment will take place at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery in Haven. Romelda’s service
will be livestreamed at 1:30 PM on her obituary page at www.zimmerfuneralhome.com.
In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing will be encouraged, and masks will be
optional.
Romelda’s family would like to thank the staff at Sheboygan Senior Community and Sharon S.
Richardson Community Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Romelda’s name for Grace Lutheran Church.
