Since the week of September 20th, the number of active cases reported on the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health’s Coronavirus Case Dashboard have shown a familiar pattern. Case numbers drop from Friday to Monday, then increase on Tuesday. With one exception, that pattern could be extended into mid August. That sort of statistical pattern, although not predicted, isn’t thought to be unusual given the lag times of reporting that can result from a weekend.
A jump of 92 active cases from Monday was seen on Tuesday’s dashboard, the result of 144 new positives balanced against 52 recoveries. 16,835 cases in all have been recorded here during the pandemic.
While 4 persons were hospitalized since Monday, six were discharged, dropping the patient population to 16. 856 persons have so far required hospitalization for COVID-19.
Sheboygan County’s level of transmission remains “high”. The total number of cases per 100,000 persons over the last 7 days, known as the “Case Rate”, increased to 269.64, while the daily percent of tests returning positive over the last 7 days has averaged 11.38%, an increase of over 1% since Monday.
64,776 county residents have received at least one dose of vaccine, 32 more than on Monday, and amounting to 56.2% of the population. 53.9%, or 62,132, are fully vaccinated, 40 more than on Monday.
