The proposed budgets that have been developed over the past several months by the City and County of Sheboygan are ready for review in public hearings this week.
The Sheboygan City budget will be up for scrutiny during a special Common Council meeting at 6 this evening in the council chambers. The document includes monies for both operating and capital purposes totaling $110,302,912. The total levy increase of $570,607 would increase property tax rates by 2.25%, or 10 cents per $1,000 in assessed property valuation.
Meanwhile the 2022 budget for Sheboygan County will be heard when the County Board meets at 6 PM Tuesday at the Courthouse. The $167 million budget has a tax levy increase of 1.14%, but a tax rate decrease of just over 4%…the sixth consecutive year of decrease.
