Alice M. Ernst, 85, of Sheboygan, passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Sharon S.
Richardson Community Hospice surrounded by her family. She was born July 28, 1936, in
Sheboygan to the late Einar and Pearl (Bennett) Karlson.
Alice graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1955. On September 29, 1973, she
was united in marriage to George Ernst. He preceded her in death on August 30, 1996.
Alice worked for Citizens Bank and retired in 1991. She enjoyed golfing and bowling. Alice was
an avid reader, and very talented with embroidery making many beautiful tablecloths for her
family. She also enjoyed doing word searches, and loved cheering on the Packers, Brewers,
Bucks and Badgers.
She is survived by her sisters, Edith Gartman and Kathy Gunderson, nieces and nephews; Eric
Gunderson, Jaime Gunderson, Sandy (Brandon) Stecker, Michael (Sarah) Gartman, Andrew
Gartman, Paul Heaney, Dan (Debrah) Bogenhagen, Nancy (Kevin) Grady, Amy (Michael) Bero,
Bill (Lynn) Bogenhagen, and Linda (Charles) Belz, 19 great nieces and nephews, and 9 great-
great nieces and nephews, she is further survived by cousins, other relatives and friends. She
was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, sister-in-law Helen Bogenhagen,
brothers-in-law Leonard Gartman and John Gunderson, niece Susan Grosnick, and great niece
Rebecca Belz.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at 11:00 AM at St. Peter Lutheran
Church, 2104 Geele Ave. Sheboygan, with Pastor Kristin Berglund officiating. Burial will follow
at Lutheran Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Thursday, October 28,
2021, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the CHURCH.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sharon S. Richardson Hospice Patient Care Fund in
Alice’s name.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Nicholas Hospital, Columbia St. Mary’s Milwaukee
and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for all their care, compassion, and support.
