Doris Jean Lohmann, fondly known to her friends as DJ, 92, of Sheboygan, died peacefully at her
home where she lived completely independently, on Sunday, September 5, 2021. She was born
August 11, 1929, in Iowa, the daughter of the late Charles and Ella (Blumberg) Moore.
Doris graduated from Burlington High School in Iowa, went on to graduate as the Valedictorian
of the class of 1951 from the University of Northern Iowa. On August 14, 1954, she was united
in marriage to the love of her life R. Donald Lohmann. They celebrated 45 years together, until
his passing on March 15, 2000.
Having a strong faith, Doris was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Sheboygan.
She was an avid reader and served as Trustee of the Mead Library. Doris supported her
husband’s work and passion at the YMCA in Sheboygan, including the Y Endowment -Lohmann
Legacy Committee.
Doris is survived by her son Chris (Lisa) Lohmann, grandchildren; Ian (Kelly Herman) Crocker, Tia
(Harry) Sinclair-Kemp, Madison Lohmann, and Gwen Lohmann, great-grandchild Rafi Sinclair-
Kemp, and her sister Susie Mayer. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and
brother Max Moore.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at 11:00 AM at the Straits
Chapel, 1801 Playbird Rd., Sheboygan, with Pastor Cyndy Little officiating. Inurnment will take
place at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Y Endowment-Lohmann Legacy Fund in Doris’s
name.
