The City of Sheboygan has announced that Hobby Lobby will be one of two national retailers to occupy the former Shopko redevelopment project.
Hobby Lobby will occupy more than half of the 97,000 square foot facility. Negotiations on the final lease with the second national retailer are still underway, and the name of the occupant will be released later.
Sheboygan’s Director of Planning and Development Chad Pelishek said that the City has been working closely with Hobby Lobby for the past 5 years to find a new location after it closed its store in the former Memorial Mall, a property now occupied by the Meijer Store. Meanwhile, work continues with the developer on incentives related to cost escalations in the project to re-occupy the former Shopko property. Those cost escalations are something that the developer says it hopes are just temporary, but that are having significant impacts on the overall project.
