There’s no mask mandate in the Sheboygan Area School District for now, but one based upon case rates will be considered at the next regular school board meeting on October 26th. However the District will implement new COVID-19 mitigation policies weeks in advance of that session.
The new policies that begin on Monday, October 11th, require that students who are symptomatic regardless of vaccination status will need a negative COVID-19 test result to return to school. If a family chooses not to test their child, then a 10-day home isolation will be imposed and the student can return on the 11th day if fever-free and symptoms improve. The School District says they’ll be able to test in-house once the new policies take effect.
For students who have close contacts to a positive case, a 10-day quarantine is required for unvaccinated students even when symptoms don’t develop, but a test can shorten their quarantine. Vaccinated students with close contacts to a positive case may test 3-5 days after their exposure, or at any point if they develop symptoms.
Other mitigation policies that go into effect on the 11th are detailed on the Sheboygan Area School District’s COVID-19 page.
