The number of active cases of COVID-19 appears to be in a plateau in Sheboygan County. Over the past 12 reporting days (weekends aren’t counted), active cases averaged 417, with a low point of 398 on August 30, and a high of 436 on September 3rd.
Since the last semi-weekly update last Thursday, the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health added 66 confirmed cases to the count that now totals 15,082 cases of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County, 40 of those added since Friday. With 83 recoveries since Thursday, active cases were down by 17. 13 hospitalizations occurred since last Thursday, and 15 persons are currently being treated, up one from Friday. 757 persons in Sheboygan County have required hospitalization at some time and 154 have died, the most recent two being reported on July 28th.
Sheboygan County is experiencing a “High” level of community transmission, with a current case rate of 182.07 per 100,000 persons, and a 12.41% positivity rate.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, 62,556 persons, or 54.2% of the County population, have received at least one dose of vaccine, while 51.4%, or 59,305, are fully vaccinated. Those numbers are up 182 and 180 respectively since Friday. Vaccinations were down last week, with 1,051 shots administered in Sheboygan County, compared with 1,506 the week before. A drop was not unexpected given the Labor Day holiday this past Monday, however the 455 dose gap was notable, and the total was the lowest dating back to August 1st.
The County DPH on Monday debuted a new interactive dashboard, which now incorporates case data, hospital data, the level of community transmission and vaccine data. The dashboard, along with weekly updates and other information on COVID-19, can be accessed at Sheboygancounty.com.
