Earl Francis Bergin, age 86, of Plymouth, WI, passed away on Wednesday (August 25, 2021)
at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center.
He was born on December 21, 1934 in Plymouth, a son of Carl and Hattie (Fenlason) Bergin.
He attended grade school and high school in Plymouth. Earl served in the United States Air Force and
was a Korean Era War Veteran.
On February 7, 1959 he married Marilyn Alex at Holy Name Church in Sheboygan, WI.
Earl was employed for 24 years at Cleveland Container as a semi-driver and for the City of
Plymouth for 20 years in the street department. After his retirement, he worked part-time for
the City of Plymouth for 11 years.
He was a proud member of the Ladewig Zinkgraf American Legion Post #243 in Plymouth and
a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He also was a volunteer fire fighter for the
Plymouth Fire Department for 10 years.
Earl’s family and time spent with them was the most important to him. Earl had a special way
of making people feel special. He had a great sense of humor. He was a hard worker from a
young age. He was proud of his time spent in the Air Force and loved his country. In 2015 he
enjoyed his trip on the Honor Flight accompanied by his son, Dan.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his children: Larry (Debbie) Bergin of Sheboygan and
Daniel (Lynn) Bergin of Lino Lakes, MN and Annette Thomas of Plymouth; seven
grandchildren: Christopher, Adam, Nicholas, Lindsey, Brianna, Sarah, and Michael; sister-in-
law: JoAnne Aschbacher; brother-in-law: Paul (Gloria) Alex; and special family friend: Lindsay
Wollner.
He is also survived by nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Carl, Henry, Clarence, and Eddie;
three sisters: Eva Jackson, Cora Konen, and Verna Bergin; two sisters-in-law: Hortense
(Brownie) Bergin and Grace Bergin; and one brother-in-law: Thomas Aschbacher.
Visitation will be held on Monday (August 30, 2021) at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth
from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM, with a prayer service to follow at 5:00 PM. Father Philip Reifenberg,
Pastor of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be at Greenbush
Cemetery.
Military Rites will be conducted by the Ladewig Zinkgraf American Legion Post #243 following
the prayer service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in his name.
