A Sunday boating excursion on Lake Michigan ended with the boat landing aground and the operator landing in trouble.
The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office says that they arrested a man for driving a boat while drunk after running the craft aground near Deland Park in Sheboygan on Sunday afternoon. Both the Sheriff and Coast Guard responded around 5:45 to reports of the grounding. The 57-year-old man piloting the boat was ticketed for operating a boat while under the influence. The boat was loaded on a trailer and later removed.
Wisconsin law explicitly prohibits anyone from operating a motorboat or using water skis, a surfboard or similar devices while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and a blood alcohol limit of point-zero-eight percent applies both on land and on water.
