Yvonne M. Woelfel, 83, Sheboygan, WI passed away on Tuesday, August 10 after many years of
battling health issues, and most recently her second battle with breast cancer.
She was born on April 27, 1938 in New Holstein WI, a daughter of Frederick “Fritz” Broeckert
(Gertie) and Dorothy Meiselwitz (Lester).
On November 7, 1959 she was united in marriage to Roman “Romy” Woelfel at St. Peter and
Paul Catholic Church in Kiel, soon after moving to Sheboygan, WI where they raised their family.
Roman preceded her in death in 2006, with both of them passing away on the same day, 15
years apart.
Yvonne graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Milwaukee, WI in 1959 and spent her
career working as a nurse for Sheboygan County Health Services until her retirement in
December 2002. After retirement Yvonne continued as a Parish Nurse at Immaculate
Conception and was an active member of the Red Cross until her health no longer allowed.
She was woman of strong faith and actively participated and volunteered at her church
Immaculate Conception serving the members of church in any way that she could.
Yvonne loved to spend time with family, gardening, making her tomato and dandelion wine,
traveling, reading, playing cards, singing and spending time with her sister, Emily, at the
Sheboygan Moose lodge. Raising rabbits for 4-H with her children, David and Nancy.
She is survived by her children: David (Sandy Gongaware) Woelfel, Nancy Winkelspecht, both of
Manitowoc and Mark (Kristin) Woelfel of Monroe WI; Grandaughters: Sarah (Jeff) Masarik of
Plymouth and Alyssa (Lucas) Ottensmann of St. Nazianz; Great granddaughters, Azy, Sekora and
Zoe; and Sister: Emily (John) Adamavich of Sheboygan. She is and also survived three nephews,
other relatives and friends.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband, Romy; Son-in-law: Robert Winkelspecht; and
Nephew: Todd Gutschow.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday (August 18, 2021) at Immaculate
Conception Parish in Sheboygan. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM with Mass
to follow at 1:00 PM. Father Paul Fliss will officiate and burial will be in the Parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Yvonne’s name.
