Burt W. TenPas, of Oostburg, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 10, 2021 at North Ridge Health and Rehab Center in Manitowoc surrounded by his loving family. He was 69 years old.
Burt was born October 21, 1951 in Sheboygan, the son of Erwin and Ruth (nee Daane) TenPas. After graduating from Oostburg High School in 1969, he went on to study as an apprentice mason. He proudly served his country in the Army Reserves for 6 years.
On July 6, 1973, Burt was united in marriage with Judy Jensema at Gibbsville Reformed Church. The couple celebrated 48 years together.
Burt was a mason his entire working career, owning his own business, TenPas Construction for many years, and also working for various local companies.
A member of First Reformed Church in Oostburg, Burt was a member of the Men’s Ministry as well as an usher. He also had belonged to the Oostburg Jaycees where he was a former President, as well as the Sauk Trail Conservation Club in Cedar Grove.
An avid Packers, Brewers, Badgers and Bucks fan, Burt was a DJ with a large record collection. He also enjoyed gardening, cooking, grilling and caring for his pond and fish. He was always excited to attend the sporting events of his children and grandchildren, and go on family vacations. He was an extremely talented carpenter with countless woodworking projects that included beds, dollhouses, furniture and picnic tables. His family and friends will cherish his works of art for years to come.
Above all, Burt enjoyed being with his family and friends, and left many wonderful memories.
Burt is survived by his wife Judy and their children: Melissa (Jason) Stephen of Sheboygan, Jamie (Tanya) TenPas of Sheboygan and Kami (Brian) Hagel of Grafton. He is further survived by his grandchildren: Ashley and Ryan Stephen, Bryce and Nolan TenPas and Mason and Riley Hagel; brother Roy (Ruth) TenPas of Oostburg; brother-in-law Paul Lammers of Hingham; sisters-in-law Joan Jensema (Linda Peel) of McHenry, IL and Jill (Mike) Posewitz of Sheboygan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters Patricia (Fred) Luedtke and Mary Lammers.
Funeral Services will be held at 11AM on Friday, August 13, 2021 at First Reformed Church, 927 Superior Ave. in Oostburg with Pastor Brian Taylor officiating. He will be laid to rest at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive visitors at Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Thursday, August 12 from 3:00-7:00PM and again Friday morning, August 13th at First Reformed Church from 10:00-11:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in his name.
The family would like to thank all of Burt’s caregivers at Bay at Northridge in Manitowoc.
