Although the number of active COVID-19 cases in Sheboygan County dropped one since Wednesday at 245, it’s still up 60 since Monday, and the total number of confirmed cases is up 100 in the same period, to 14,299. In the second of twice-weekly reports from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health, other metrics also illustrate a continuing rise in the disease, largely attributed to the now-dominant Delta variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Data from the Centers for Disease Control on August 9th showed the percent positivity of tests here was at 11.9%…that increased to 12.06% as of August 11th. The 7-day case count increased from 145.66 cases per 100,000 persons to 184.67 over the same time span. Sheboygan County remains at a “high” transmission level.
At least one shot of vaccine has been received by 59,469 County residents – that’s 51.6%, while 48.8%, or 56,281, are fully vaccinated.
Sheboygan County currently has two facility-wide investigations underway. One involves a long-term care facility, while the other is at a non-healthcare workplace.
