CHICAGO, IL (WHBL) – The Milwaukee Brewers scored seven first inning runs on the way to a 10-0 win over the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday night at Wrigley Field.
Brewer starting pitcher Corbin Burnes tied a major league record in the win with 10 consecutive strikeouts. He’s the 3rd player to ever do that. Tom Seaver did it in 1970 and Aaron Nola did it earlier this year for the Phillies. Burnes had a career high 15 Ks over eight innings, allowing only four hits and no walks.
Omar Narvaez was 3-3 with four RBIs including his 11th home run. Lorenzo Cain drove in two runs. Christian Yelich, Kolten Wong and Tyrone Taylor also had RBIs.
The Brewers banged out 16 hits in the victory.
For Chicago, Jake Arrieta gave up eight runs on eleven hits over four-innings of work, dropping to 5-11 this season.
Milwaukee is now 69-46 and will go for the four game sweep Thursday afternoon. Pregame coverage on WHBL begins at 12:45.
