With a new wave of the coronavirus now exerting its influence on Sheboygan County, the Division of Public Health on Monday began issuing its COVID-19 updates twice weekly, on Mondays and Thursdays.
In its first Monday update, an additional 54 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed since last Thursday, for a total of 14,199 cases during the pandemic in Sheboygan County. In the same time span, Wisconsin added 3,412 new cases for a total of 630,296. 3 more hospitalizations occurred in Sheboygan County for a total of 154 hospitalizations during the pandemic, and 7 patients are now being treated.
According to statistics from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Sheboygan County is now reporting a 7-day average of new daily confirmed cases of 20.14, or a rate of 17.5 per 100,000 persons, and is experiencing a high rate of transmission. Vaccinations have now been completed by 56,041 Sheboygan County residents, or 48.6% of the population, while 59,013 persons, or 51.2%, have received at least one shot. Vaccination rates increased during the past week. 1,061 doses were administered during the week of August 1st, compared with 964 doses the previous week.
