Downtown Plymouth is well-known for the many colorful murals that decorate buildings along Mill Street. And by the end of this month seven more will be added, all painted during the “Return of the Walldogs” mural festival August 25th through the 29th.
The Walldogs are a group of highly skilled sign painters and mural artists from around the world who choose just a few communities each year to host their festival. Plymouth first hosted the Walldogs 10 years ago when 21 murals were painted.
Plymouth Advancement Association President Lee Gentine said they’re excited to bring the artists back, noting the tourism boost that the downtown gets from visitors and residents coming to enjoy the works.
Mural sponsorships and donations are being sought to cover artist fees, supplies, paint, and equipment. The tax-deductible contributions can be made on the Plymouth Advancement Association’s website advanceplymouth.org, and a fundraiser will be held Saturday, August 28th at the Plymouth Arts Center.
