Gladys F. Sommersberger, 100, of Sheboygan passed away Sunday evening, August 1, 2021 at the Sheboygan Senior Community where she had been residing.
Born August 26, 1920 in the Township of Burnett, Wisconsin, Gladys was the daughter of the late Arthur and Francis Keller Tews. She attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from Central High School. On June 28, 1941 Gladys was united in marriage to Edwin R. Sommersberger. They were married for 49 years before Edwin preceded her in death on July 9, 1990.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church. She enjoyed bow hunting, golfing, bowling and baseball. Most recently, she enjoyed coloring in her coloring books.
She is survived by her sister Evelyn (Jerry) Lieske, Sheboygan; and her sister in law Helen Tews; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Edwin, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters Wilbur Tews, Delores (Clarence) Schetter, Arthur (Marlene) Tews, Joann (Donald) Campbell, and Donald Tews, her brother-in-law Raymond Sommersberger and sister-in-law Marion Sommersberger, her mother-in-law, Meta Sommersberger; other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Gladys will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 6, 2021 at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 1810 N 13th Street, Sheboygan. Pastor Matthew Shive will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will take place in the Garden Terrace Mausoleum.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
